2026 Business Outlook Survey Results Now Available

What are local business leaders anticipating in Oshkosh for 2026? That is the question we asked local CEOs, business managers, and owners. While it is impossible to predict our economic future with a high degree of specificity, and despite some concerns about workforce availability, higher operating costs, and economic uncertainty, locally, Oshkosh is doing well and has a position of strength in the marketplace.

Oshkosh Updates

  • The new ThedaCare Medical Center at 250 W 6th Avenue officially opened on January 19, just under 2 years after a groundbreaking in March of 2024. The 114,000 square-foot health campus will offer services such as; 24/7 emergency care, outpatient surgery, primary care, pediatrics, specialty care, a drive-thru retail pharmacy, and numerous lab services. Froedtert ThedaCare believes that their new location is vital for the community, as 73% of Oshkosh residents live east of Interstate 41. This development greatly complements the major redevelopment and revitalization efforts along the Fox River and downtown Oshkosh area.

  • Keeping with the medical center updates, the new Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Specialists (OSMS) facility is nearing completion and is expected to open this spring. This will be a 27,000 square-foot standalone facility at 200 S Oakwood Road and will expand access to patient-first care. The clinic will feature 20 patient exam rooms, the latest X-ray and MRI technology, an on-site lab, along with infusion suites for treating rheumatic disease and other conditions. The facility will also be equipped to handle procedures like carpal tunnel release that can be formed under local anesthesia and will also offer physical and occupational therapy.

  • In other local development news, 7 Brew will be opening in April of this year in the Tommy’s Plaza at 2100 Omro Road. 7 Brew is a rapidly growing drive-thru coffee chain founded in 2017, known for its high-energy service, double-lane drive-thru, and extensive menu offering over 20,000 unique drink combinations. Serving espresso, 7 Energy, smoothies, and teas. They focus on speed, quality, and community interaction. This will mark the 14th 7 Brew in Wisconsin and should bring around 30-50 new jobs to the area.

  • Another restaurant development of note is that Foodies Mediterranean BBQ is now open for carry-out and delivery options from their location at 2350 Wisconsin 44. They specialize in healthy Mediterranean and Persian-influenced dishes and boast a menu free of deep-fried food and microwaves. The owners are unsure when they will open for full service with their double drive-thru, but in the meantime their hours of operation are updated weekly on their Facebook page.

  • Winnebago County recently approved a $4.5 million Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) for housing developments in the area. The county maintains that at least 10,000 new housing units are required to attract new families, support the aging population, and sustain local businesses. The RLF will offer low-interest gap financing for housing development. Winnebago County would work with municipalities to streamline approvals and remove barriers, enabling projects to move forward efficiently. Winnebago County Executive Gordon Hintz will oversee the fund on a board with several other stakeholders.

Youth Leadership Oshkosh

Youth Leadership Oshkosh Government Day which took place on a bitter cold day in January, provided students with an immersive, hands-on introduction to local government, civic responsibility, and public service . Participants met the district attorney and a Judge at the Winnebago County Courthouse, engaged in a mock City Council meeting at Oshkosh City Hall, learned how to vote, and explored careers in government and law. Through direct interaction with community leaders and elected officials, students gained a deeper understanding of how local government works and how their own leadership and civic engagement can shape the Oshkosh community. Thank you to City of Oshkosh staff-City Manager, Rebecca Grill, Kami Zuercher,  Michelle Behnke, Dani Hoeper, Emma Dziengeleski, James Rabe; our District Attorney, Eric Sparr; Judge Bissett; Darla Salinas, Oshkosh City Clerk; Nate Olson, Olson Legal Group; Mayor Mugerauer,

Leadership Oshkosh

In January, Leadership Oshkosh Business Day immersed participants in the role of business leadership in shaping Oshkosh’s economic vitality and community well-being, combining executive dialogue, hands-on learning, and behind-the-scenes access to key organizations . The day featured a dynamic executive panel, engagement with UW–Oshkosh’s Small Business Development Center and CEED, company visits, and an in-depth experience at Oshkosh Corporation, including a defense vehicle demonstration and headquarters tour . Through these experiences, participants explored how mission, vision, and values guide real-world decision-making while strengthening the connection between business success and civic impact. Thank you to 4imprint, Amcor, Blended Waxes, Castle Pierce, Fox Valley Metrology, Oshkosh Corporation and Oshkosh Door Company for hosting tours for the class. Thank you to our executive panelists.

Propel Oshkosh Young Professionals

Propel kicked off the new year strong with 78 members!

This month, we hosted our Holiday Party at Tipsy Tinsel, where members enjoyed bingo, great food, and raffle prizes. All proceeds from the event benefited Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and we’re proud to share that we raised $350! Enough to provide a bed for a child right here in Oshkosh.

We also held our monthly Morning Mingle at Elsewhere Market and Coffeehouse, welcoming around 15 attendees for networking and conversation to start the day.

Propel and Discover Oshkosh collabed during Restaurant Week where we hosted a lunch at Greene's Pour House. During the event all attendees learned more about Restaurant week and what Discover Oshkosh has been up to!

Looking ahead, Propel is working toward hosting three events each month, including:

READ MORE Campaign

The READ MORE Oshkosh campaign was launched last week under the Dome at the Oshkosh Public Library with a clear and inspiring goal: to build a stronger community by encouraging more reading, especially with the children in our lives. Born out of Leadership Oshkosh’s Education Day, READ MORE brings together residents, educators, and community partners to promote literacy as a foundation for opportunity, workforce development, economic growth, and lifelong learning. With more than 600 books already donated, the campaign is turning vision into action. The Oshkosh Chamber is proud to be a community partner in this effort, supporting a movement that reminds us that reading truly makes better communities.
